Top eBook Sellers of 2004

And the winners are.....
The Open eBook Forum has released it's survey of top 2004 eBook sales. These figures largely represent traditional publishers stats and figures of ebook sales.
Of particular note:
We found it interesting that most of the ebooks on the top seller's list were fiction.
Ladies and gentlemen, consider this: if revenues for the traditional publisher market were $3.2 million and grew 25% year over year, how much do you think these figures would be revised upward if we included self published ebooks too?
We would wager that the sales figure is probably well over 100 times that amount - or over $300 million.
How do we come to that conclusion or estimate?
It's very hard to count how many ebooks are promoted by self publishing authors and organizations. But we feel it's save to say at any given time, there are over a million. We say this due to the estimates by Clickbank alone as having over 120,000 titles to offer. If you add in 2checkout, Paypal and all the other merchant providers who handle transactions for authors, we feel that the market is comfortably running at $300 million a quarter or more.
So now ask yourself: what piece of that market are you getting?
Are you even in the game? If not, why not?
It's a large market and it's only growing! Get busy and get into the game!

- Revenues: $3,227,972 in sales have been logged by retailers in Q3 - 2004, a 25% increase over the same period in 2003 during which time retailers reported $2,591,469 on sales of eBooks.
- Unit Sales: A total of 419,962 eBooks were sold in Q3 2004 alone, an 11% increase over the same period in 2003, during which time 377,095 units were sold.
