Self Publish Options

Is a print book or an ebook the only way to self publish?  The answer may surprise you....
While those are the two primary methods we discuss here in the B2B eBook Conference, you can self publish in one other method:  blogs.

In fact, that's what we do here every day.  We post a blog update, article, tip or news here every day.  Isn't that self publishing?

Of course it is.

But what of the three methods should you use if you are an author?

Here's an interesting strategy that one of our members is using:  his strategy is simple but probably very, very effective over time.

He's writing his ebook and print book on his blog.

Yes, one day at a time, he's writing.

When he gets to a point where he feels he has covered all his key topics and created enough value to go to print and produce an ebook, he will take all his material, combine it and format it in MS Word.

What the blog does is:

1.  Give him a sense he's speaking to someone today
2.  Makes himself write in it every day (since someone else is reading it)
3.  Caused him to be more self-disciplined about his writing frequency and commitment
4.  Is giving him great networking opportunities
5.  Is giving him a great website laced with rich keyword content that over time, will have search engines crawling his site.

Now that is a simple but effective strategy.  Perhaps like many others, he may actually one day be able to sell advertising on his blog.

But for now, he's satisfied with his progress.  The calendar on his blog gives him the small rewards of personal satisfaction by seeing the dates get hyperlinked to that day's writing.  He's seeing the days mount up and knows he's probably only a few months from having his book done.  And moreover, he's not worried that no one would buy his book because the content is on the blog - few of his prospective buyers would take the time to read through hundreds of blog posts to compile his story anyway.

Lastly, he's laying a great website foundation for future sales.  By the time he's done writing the book, he'll be indexed in Yahoo, MSN and Google, and probably have a steady stream of visitors from which to market and sell his book to one day.

Think about it!
