The Cool Factor of Self Publishing

eBook Publisher | 19 January, 2005 12:24

Yes, there is a cool factor in this business....

Here is a great story about Glenna Loving in tiny Winchester, Virginia, who has self published her own print book.  It's a great story and one that might not seem very significant.

In Winchester, it's a pretty big deal though!

And her book well may be a big deal for generations to come, as it is a children's book.  Glenna is planting seeds for local kids there by educating and  entertaining.

One quote from the article we liked:

"She decided she would self-publish the book. This way, she retains the copyright."

That is one of the most overlooked benefits of self publishing.  You retain your coprights and for that matter, all rights.  You decide how your book will be distributed - print, electronic, audio, video, or all of them!  You are not constrained by the publisher telling you what and how you will go to market.

Take a read of that story and see if it doesn't inspire you.
