Self Publish or Real Publishing?

eBook Publisher | 07 February, 2005 08:20

Do you know the difference?  What is self-publishing and what is "traditional" publishing?  Don't get fooled....

Unfortunately, many want-to-be authors have dreams in their heads of getting published by a "traditional" publisher and being the next Tom Clancy or Mark Victor Hansen.

Few have read the "case studies" of how many of these authors got where they are today.  For most top authors, it was years of tireless and relentless self-promotion and marketing.  It wasn't that their books were just plain - good - they are great promoters.

So with that, it's easy to see how an author could get duped into believing that a self publisher, or print-on-demand publisher may sound like a traditional publisher.

Here is a great story of such a situation from the Washington Post.

If you are a publisher, please do better than PublishAmerica in that story.  If you are an author, you better do your diligence, just as you would when purchasing a home, car or signing any other long-term type of contract.

Have a great week!
